THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Individual therapy

In my practice, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - ACT is an evidence-based therapy approach that helps people develop psychological flexibility and adapt to challenges in a productive way. ACT is based on the idea that pain, grief, and other negative experiences are a natural part of life. The goal is to learn to accept them rather than try to eliminate or avoid them. ACT is a behavioral and cognitive intervention that uses six core processes:

-
Acceptance: Accept emotions and feelings without trying to change them

-
Defusion: Separate yourself from your inner experiences and see thoughts as just thoughts

-
The now: Focus on the present moment

-
Self: Learn to see your thoughts about yourself as separate from your actions
-
Values: Identify what's important to you and motivate action

-
Committed action: Change your behavior based on your values

ACT is transdiagnostic, meaning it can be applied to a wide range of mental and physical conditions. It can be delivered in a variety of ways, including in-person, online, or through smartphone apps.
